This little free library is used heavily. I did a complete restock and removed about 5 books that were moldy/damaged.
It was sad that a location in one of the most accessible and high population areas that need more books was completely empty.
Just completed the book drop at 2 LFL book desert locations near me.
Fern Huntridge - #110249- 7 books
Clark County Poet Laureate - #88254 - 14 books
Great experience
Sometimes I see a library that is overflowing; other times they are almost empty. One thing I've done is try to organize them as much as possible. When I see some that are overloaded, I sometimes bring a few of those to the more empty libraries just to have even distribution. I categorize the books into child, YA and adult categories, or fiction/nonfiction, and make the displays neater so they'll be more attractive to bookworms on the prowl for their next great read! Sometimes people leave a review in one of their books and I love that! I've also found things like cards, notes, plane tickets, concert tickets, etc. It is a nice reminder that these books have a history; that they were read and well-loved.
It's always fun to share books. We love our community LFL
I distributed my second Team LFL book bundle throughout Little Free Libraries in my local network and community. One thing I noticed this time was a significant difference in the variety of the books included. My first bundle was exceptional in its range, with high-quality books representing different ages, reading levels, genres, interests, and readers, which made it especially useful for thoughtfully stocking multiple community libraries.
This second bundle was much more heavily concentrated in children’s books, particularly English/Spanish bilingual titles, to the point that I initially wondered whether I had accidentally received a bundle intended specifically for younger or bilingual readers. Those books are absolutely valuable and were still distributed where they could be useful, but the narrower selection made it more difficult to serve the broad range of readers who use our neighborhood libraries.
Having now distributed two bundles, the biggest takeaway for me is how valuable variety is at the community level. A diverse assortment allows stewards to match books not only to different locations, but to the actual people and reading needs we encounter. I would love to see the broader range represented in my first bundle continue in future distributions.
I knew of these two little free libraries that were specifically for childrens books. I recently had a large donation of kids books so I went and filled them up. The first one was filled with adult books and damaged kids books so I took care of them. The second one was half full so I filled it up.
