You’re invited to join a special Little Free Library community event in the Atlanta area from October 27th to 29th. We’re celebrating Make a Difference Day by offering free books and a chance for volunteers to support the Little Free Libraries in your area.
What is Make a Difference Day? It’s a day dedicated to positive community impact, observed on the fourth Saturday of October.
Why is Little Free Library celebrating Make a Difference Day? Building community is part of Little Free Library’s mission. We want to honor stewards like you who make positive impacts in your neighborhoods! This celebration also encourages other community members to connect and find ways to contribute.
Make a Difference Day is part of a new community engagement initiative by Little Free Library. This will include community events and opportunities for volunteers who are not stewards to support book access. We’re testing events in a few cities this fall, with plans to expand efforts nationwide in 2024. Stay tuned for more news about our new community engagement initiative coming soon!
Who can participate? Stewards from the St. Paul area with mapped Little Free Libraries. We will send book bundles to the first 15 stewards who complete the sign up online.
We will also encourage community members in the St. Paul area to share books in Little Free Libraries during the weekend of October 27th-29th.
What do I get if I participate in Make a Difference Day?
The first 15 stewards from the St. Paul area to sign up will receive:
- 8 new books (picture books, middle-grade, and YA) featuring stories about people making a difference in their communities
- 20 Little Free Library bookmarks
- 20 Little Free Library stickers
What are the expectations for participating stewards? If you decide to join us for Make a Difference Day, here’s what we ask of you:
- Share the Make a Difference Day books, stickers, and bookmarks in your library from October 27-29.
- Promote Make a Difference Day within your community using word of mouth, social media, and more.
- Snap a photo of your library during the event and share it with Little Free Library.
- Respond to a brief survey after the event.
Participating stewards are encouraged (although not required) to offer a service project or community-building activity at your Little Free Library during October 27-29. You can find activity ideas here or here.
How do I sign up? Register online here to reserve your spot. Remember, participation is first-come, first-served for the first 15 stewards. If you’re interested, sign up now! The sign-up window closes on September 29th.
