Help expand book access throughout Upson County by becoming a Team LFL volunteer! As a volunteer, you’ll distribute free books to local Little Free Libraries, helping to cultivate a lifelong love of reading and promote literacy proficiency.

The Book Bug, in partnership with Little Free Library and For the Love of Reading, connects volunteers with free and discounted books to stock Little Free Libraries in Thomaston and beyond.
How It Works

Register to Get Started: Sign up to volunteer and receive all the resources you’ll need.

Complete Online Training: Access Little Free Library’s quick, self-paced training.

Pick Up Your Book Bundle: Volunteers will be provided with a location and pickup instructions for our local storeroom in Thomaston, where you can collect your book bundle.

Distribute Your Book Bundle: Deliver books to your chosen Little Free Libraries and share the joy of reading!
Purpose
By distributing books to Little Free Libraries in Thomaston, you are helping to build community, inspire readers, and expand book access.
Responsibilities
- Restock one or more Little Free Libraries in Thomaston. You are welcome to add your own (new or used) books too!
- Arrange books neatly to make them inviting for browsers.
- Use the Little Free Library mobile app to log your contributions and report any library maintenance needs.
- Submit an impact form in our volunteer hub to share your experience.
Time Commitment
Flexible and self-paced. Expect to spend approximately 1 hour per book bundle delivery.
Training & Support
- Online Training: Little Free Library offers a quick self-paced training to help you get started.
- Resources: The Book Bug provides 25-30 books to restock a Little Free Library.
- Support Contact: Our volunteer coordinators are available to answer any questions you have along the way.
What You’ll Need:
- A love for Little Free Libraries and a passion for literacy
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to carry up to 15 lbs of books
- Familiarity with the Little Free Library mobile app—or willingness to learn
